Erika Hemphill has been a woman focused on a greater calling for nearly four decades, between building homes and community relationships. She is a Ponchatoula native, who attended Ponchatoula High and then graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University as one of the top five students in the business management department.
She was hired by Offshore Technical Compliance, an oil and gas regulatory compliance company, where she learned how to lead with excellence. This experience gave her optimal insight into the contracting world. She managed over 40+ employees, contractors, and projects, while simultaneously controlling multi-million dollar projects. And she succeeded. Her legacy as a woman in a male-dominated industry didn’t stop there. Adding her love for design and knack for strategic management, it was clear that opening her own business was the next step in her story.
Upon the arrival of her second child, she desired the flexibility to be both a supportive mother and successful businesswoman. Erika grew up watching her mother build two very successful businesses. This, coupled with the support of her husband, led to the decision to leap into entrepreneurship. Enter eNg Designs & Construction.
Her mother taught her the value of quality branding. This, paired with her keen eye for forward-thinking design, enables eNg to build authentic and unique custom homes. As a result, eNg continues to shine as the premier contract company in Tangipahoa Parish, always in high demand.
Now, she fills her team with people that share those same values and high expectations.
In less than five years, she is succeeding in leaving an extraordinary legacy in the industry and community. Erika states, “In 5 short years, I have genuinely exceeded everything I thought eNg would be plus more.”
To continue her growth and development in the home building industry, Erika joined the Northshore Homebuilder’s Association (NHBA) in 2020 and was immediately nominated and accepted as Secretary of the Board. She is now the Vice Chair on the Board for the NHBA where she enjoys the relationships, knowledge sharing, and industry impact she gains from being an active member.
At the beginning of 2021, eNg Designs & Construction completed their “Sunflower Project,” which was a tiny house provided to a deserving member of our community free of charge. This was made possible by Erika’s leadership combined with the generosity of the Northshore Homebuilder’s Association and a long list of local vendors and subcontractors that also donated their products and services.
Erika continues her community service by being a member of the Tangipahoa Parish Chamber of Commerce and the Hammond Downtown Development District. eNg Designs & Construction also pride themselves in supporting local schools and youth sports programs.
When Erika is not on-site or in the office, you can find her spending time with her family at the beach, at the ball field cheering on her son Kipten during the season, watching in wonder as daughter Aubrie grows leaps and bounds at dance and gymnastics class, taking advantage of the yummy local restaurants with her husband and friends., and attending as many concerts as possible! As her creativity is always flowing she draws inspiration from anywhere her feet may land.
